ACT FOR DRY STONE IN EUROPE
2011-1-FR1-GRU13- 24595
15 / 04 / 2012 – 23 / 04 / 2012
Arlanc, Auvergne, France
This workshop will provide participants with basic knowledge and competences on traditional dry-stone techniques and use of local materials.
Two important goals are to promote awareness for the protection of the European dry-stone heritage and to raise conscience of the international dimension of heritage, protection, preservation and the notion of common heritage.
The participants will put into practice the knowledge on traditional dry-stone techniques in several interventions. They will create educational tools like a multilingual glossary and a catalogue of the dry-stone examples in Europe. In addition, they will gain a methodological basis to approach the organization of projects concerning valorisation of dry-stone heritage. Visits to different areas are planned in order to recognize the diversity of dry stone constructions, their functionality and their integration in the landscape.
This workshop will be an opportunity to the participants to know more about the educational project of Concordia. The pedagogy that will be used will be close to the one we know and we put into practice in the international workcamps, where the involvement of the group in daily life is important as the involvement in the activities. The participants will be lodged in a collective house which will enable them to share time together within the daily tasks.
We are looking for participants aged 18 + and nationals from any of the 31 eligible countries of the Lifelong Learning Programme: European Union plus Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Turkey and Croatia.
The group of learners will be composed of 15 participants. A maximum of 3 participants from the same country will be accepted.
The workshop is intended for amateurs, but also for learners who want to set up or to lead projects in the future related to the dry-stone methods.
Participants will be selected based on their motivation. Workshop trainers will contact all participants 1 month before the workshop to initiate preparatory work.
Travel, accommodation and food are entirely covered by the workshop organiser, supported by the Grundtvig Program. Participants should purchase their airplane and/or train tickets once they will be confirmed. The costs of these tickets will be reimbursed after the end of the workshop up to 400 euros/person. In order to be reimbursed participants have to give to the workshop trainers all invoices and travel documents.
Two mini-buses will be available during the workshop in order to make some visits and trips (also for the arrival and the departure of the participants).
Please send the application form to international@concordia.fr  before 31st January.
We will inform selected participants by 3rd February and they have to confirm their attendance the latest by 10th February. Selected participants will receive a signed copy of the application form. In case any potential learner does not confirm by this date, her/his participation will be cancelled and the first person from the waiting list will take her/his place.
